THROWBACK (2nd BSU-UBC MISSIONARY JOURNEY)

2nd Missionary Journey
BSU-UBC BALIKTANAW: 1977-1997

 


1977: Pastor Henry Cabalang became full-time pastor of UBC; Rev. Billy Graham visited UBC

1979: Foreign Mission Board granted permission to UBC to use the whole BSU facilities (condition: STUDENT MINISTRY)

1981: 1ST Partnership Crusade; Foreign Mission Board granted full responsibility of the BSU student ministry; called full-time pastors

1989: Home Bible study, dormitories, and residences in the u-belt upscaled; Pastor Henry took sabbatical leave
1991-92: Membership hit almost a thousand; challenges were on the rise

1996: The May 5 Day of Fasting & Prayer; Pastor Danny Johnson was asked to serve as interim pastor

1997: “New beginning,” Rev. Danilo R. Santiago was asked to serve as Senior Pastor

    • The sovereign hand of God is always ready to protect us in missions.
    • I. 1ST ROUTE: JERUSALEM-PHILIPPI (15:41-16:40)
      GENERAL PRINCIPLE: In times of challenging encounters, OFTEN the light of Christian witness shines the brightest. (YOUR PRINCIPLE?)

  • II. 2nd ROUTE: THESSALONICA-CORINTH (17:1-34)
    GENERAL PRINCIPLE: God has placed within each of us the yearning to seek Him. (Just witness, leave the result to God) (YOUR PRINCIPLE?)

  • III. 3rd ROUTE: CORINTH-ANTIOCH (18:1-22)
    GENERAL PRINCIPLE: We will end up at the right time and at the right place if we only entrust our way to God’s timing. (YOUR PRINCIPLE?)
